Minutes of the Meeting of the Normanton on Soar Parish Council held in the Hall on Thursday 2nd February 2017 commencing at 7.30pm.

17.12 Minutes

The Minutes of Parish Council meeting held on 12th January 2017, as circulated, were agreed and signed as a true record of the business transacted.

17.13 Matters Arising.

 

  • Item 17.02/2 - Far Lane – Rushcliffe Borough Council have confirmed that Far Lane was swept on 7th They are to come out and review the area and will carry out a further road sweep in the village should it be required

  • Item 17.3/a – It was confirmed that there was no mention of Normanton on Soar in the Preferred Approach Local Minerals Plan for Nottinghamshire.

  • Item 17.11/3 - Hay Barn was granted planning approval

  • Item 17.7/2 – proposed dog fouling notice was discussed. It was resolved that a flyer would be produced asking dog walkers to ensure that they cleared up after their dogs. Notices would be distributed to all councillors for handing out.

/1 Highway Matters:

/a. NCC Report

1/ Main street resurfacing has been postponed until work on Bowleys Bridge has been completed. Completion of the work on Bowley’s Bridge has been delayed due to the discovery of an unknown culvert at the abase of the embankment. It is hoped that work will be completed by mid April 2017. Network Rail have sent letters informing residents of the road closure extension.

/a. Cllr Brown reported:

  • The proposed weight restriction through Normanton on Soar is still being looked into at Nottinghamshire County Council.
  • The East Leake Police Station will be moving to the Fire Station once the existing lease expires.

/a. Cllrs Males and Thurman reported:

  • Another 195 houses have been proposed for East Leake bringing the total development in East Leake to approx. 1000 new houses. This puts extreme pressure onto the existing health service in East Leake,.

17.20 Ferry

1) Work is proceeding well and it is anticipated that all work will be completed by the end of February 2017.

  • Photographs of the work were circulated.
  • Clerk to submit a monthly report, including photos to NCC
  • Vicar has offered to bless the boat when it is relaunched.

17.21 Allotments

Frances Baum has confirmed that she no longer wishes to proceed with the allotment.

17.22 Matters of Report

1) Website – Easyspace have confirmed that the new website will be up and running by the 8th of February 2017.

2) BT engineers in the village on an almost daily basis trying to resolve issues being experienced by residents re the telephone service in the village. It was resolved that a circular be put around to all residents asking them to let the Parish Council know of any problems that they have had or are experiencing. The Parish Council will then write a letter of complaint to BT.

  • Dominic Al-Hariri has researched the settlement at the top of Butt Lane and believes it is connected to a Bronze Age settlement. Information gathered will be forwarded onto the Parish Council
