Minutes of the Meeting of the Normanton on Soar Parish Council held in the Hall on Thursday the 4th April 2017 commencing at 7.30pm.

The Minutes of Parish Council meeting held on 2nd March 2017, as circulated, were agreed and signed as a true record of the business transacted.

17.36 Matters Arising.

/1. Item 17.34/1 – Nottinghamshire County Council have inspected the Lime tree on Main Street and have confirmed that it is to be felled. The tree is in decline and is posing a safety issue on the highway and to neighbouring properties.

/2. Item 17.34/2 – The village website is expected to go live by the 10th April 2017.

17.43 Ferry

  • Open day is to take place on Saturday 8th April – flyers have been delivered to all households. Joannna Herbert Stepney has been informed.
  • Posters have been sent to Hathern Parish Council
  • Village shop is to provide the tea and coffee.
  • Volunteers are providing cake
  • Ferry trips on the Saturday will be free of charge – a donation box will be available.
  • Peberdy is to paint the Ferry cabin.
  • Cllr A Brown is to officially open the Ferry Cabin.
  • Councillors are to join the Ferry operating rota.
  • The Ferry will operate 1st April to September 30th 10am to 4.30pm

 

Stuart Sleight and Keith Bonser were thanked for all of their hard work in ensuring that the project was completed and for the extra volunteer hours that they have put in to the project.

17.45 – Village Event

  1. Ponting is to organize the Village Event on either Saturday 5th August 2017 or 12th August 2017 depending on the hall availability. The event will start at 3pm and will incorporate a barbeque and bring your own picnic.

17.46 Matters of Report

 

  • Noticeboard outside the old playing field needs the posts securing in the ground

  • Continuing problems with dog mess on the playing field was discussed. It was acknowledged that once the CCTV cameras were installed dog owners failing to clear up dog mess would be identified and reported to the dog warden.

  • A white 4 x 4 vehicle was spotted at the junction of Moor Lane and the A6006 two men were in the vehicle – one was seen laying down the Road Closure signage. The time was approximately 12.30am on Tuesday 4th The two men sped off once they realised that they had been seen.

  • Bus shelter signage on the A6006 has been damaged
